Something spilled & dried. Do I also need to treat with Scotchguard type product afterwards? Or is an auto cleaning station the best choice for these type things?

I tried the upholstery cleaner of Resolve. It topically cleaned it, but apparently the stain ran deeper. I took it to an auto cleaner shop, and they worked their magic this morn & I paid with a $5 tip. Looks great & smells great.

tuff stuff spray carpet and upolstery cleaner and a good stiff brush will clean your upolstery like new, autozone, pepboys, and maybe walmart carry it.

I am super thrifty and have just bought all of my furniture for our new house as second hand. I also have a baby on the way any day now and would like to clean the upholstery-either professionally or myself. I can rent a steam cleaner from the store BUT am wondering if there is another compound to use besides the stuff that is typically used sold alongside the rental steamers…it needs to be non-toxic. Any idea? I am in the LA area. Thanks!

Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Club Soda, Baking Soda all have great cleaning properties and are non-toxic. For the furniture, I would start by sprinkling baking soda all over the fabric, then vacuum it with a regular vacuum – this should help get rid of odor. Steam cleaning will then sanitize the upholstery. Also, many products are being sold now that are safer to use, World Market carries a brand that I believe is non-toxic, though it is a little more expensive, and even Target sells Method brand which I think is also non-toxic. Be careful though because if something is bio-degradable, that doesn’t mean it is non-toxic.

I have a 2 1/2 year old who makes all kinds of messes and I want to be able to clean those up as well as do the whole house and upholstery, too.

i have been thru many i have 3 dogs 2 cats and babysit 5 grandkids the best i have found is the dirt devil steam cleaner with attachments about 140.00 i have paid 300,00 for others and they never lasted.you may have to still scrub a little bit but im real happy with it. curios

The attachment hose of my 2x deep cleaner is spraying way to much water when i use the hose to clean my couch, etc… How do I control the flow of the hose so I dont soak my couch….

The amount of water is controlled by the trigger. Don’t push the trigger so much or spray with the attachment further away from the couch. It will spray a wider area if you spray further away but it won’t soak it quite so bad because it is spreading the same amount of water over a wider spot.
